Attune

/əˈto͞on/

verb

attuned, attuning

To make receptive, aware or responsive

“Many times I’d find myself enjoying a song for its rhythms and melodies only to later realize that it had helped me attune to an emotion I wasn’t fully aware of, understanding or expressing.”

“We can attune our frequency just as we would change the radio station.”

To accustom or acclimate

“I’ve always found it difficult to attune to the dominant culture and pace of life.”

“Making and curating music has always allowed me to attune to the rhythms of the natural world and frequencies of love, beauty, connection, and sovereignty.”

To make harmonious

“I know music to be a universal language through which we can attune with the world.”

“As part of a 10-week cohort at the start of the 2025, I defined my personal values. Adventure felt inherent. I curate novelty for myself wherever possible – new cities and countries, new skillsets, new ingredients and recipes, new music and old music arranged in new ways, etc. Each adventure requires and cultivates a particular agility and awareness, deep reflections and continuous realignment. I’d been seeking adventure in pursuit of its effects:
self-fulfillment and to feel attuned.

“I realized through my practice of playlisting, I’ve been attuning. Becoming aware, responsive and responsible, acclimated, most recently, harmonious. I am still attuning. This practice and project, through all its iterations, has been a direct reflection of that. With music as my medium, I hope to ultimately curate a sense of being and being attuned.
